A vestibular function test that uses infrared video oculography goggles to record involuntary eye movements (nystagmus) in order to assess the vestibular function of inner ear and brain.

Exact VNG testing protocols vary from clinic to clinic, depending on doctor’s preference. VNG testing commonly includes positional testing and oculomotor testing like visual tracking tasks along with other measures used to investigate dizziness and vertigo.

This test is popular among medical specialist doctors. A VNG test may be included in a battery of vestibular diagnostic testing ordered by a medical doctor for patients with dizziness and vertigo.
