A term used to describe common age-related dysfunctions that are not generally coded as a diagnosis and they involve multiple organ systems. The four risk factors for the onset of geriatric syndromes include age, cognitive decline, impaired mobility and functional impairment. Examples of geriatric syndromes include dizziness and frailty. The final common pathway for all geriatric syndromes is morbidity.
